Youth & Junior World Championships USA

February 25, 2022

The 2022 Biathlon Youth & Jr. World Championships came to Soldier Hollow, Utah, USA on Friday 25 Feb, with New Zealand's Campbell Wright taking part in the 15 km Individual race.

Campbell was off bib number 1 and despite feeling a little under the weather, skied well and shot clear on his first three visits to the range - putting him in gold medal position with just the last shoot to go. Sadly, his last standing shoot saw him miss two targets and earn a two minutes of time penalties. He bravely skied on, despite this frustration and a growing sense of exhaustion and finished in 6th place, 38 seconds off the win.

Who would have thought a few years ago, that 6th place in the World Champs would have been a disappointment to a NZ skier - but times have changed and Campbell has his sights set on the perfect race. We think he's had a few already this year, but we also know there's more to come.

Next up, the Sprint and Pursuit races.
