Biathlon New Zealand has been invited to send a group of young athletes to the IBU IOC Camp to be held in Goms, Switzerland in December 2025.
New Zealand have been invited to send up to 4 athletes (2 male, 2 female) and 1 coach.
The camp is for young biathletes (aged 15–21) who have reached a competent* level of biathlon and shown commitment to the sport.
This camp is an excellent development opportunity, especially as it leads directly into the IBU Junior Cup #1 to be held in Goms between 7–14 December 2025.
The IBU, with support from Olympic Solidarity funds, will cover accommodation, catering, and provide a travel contribution for all selected participants.
Last year's camp was held in Martell, Italy. Here's what the IBU said about the camp:
"--The IBU-IOC Camp in Martell, Italy, was an important development event that brought together 54 athletes and 14 coaches from 14 different National Federations for a week of intensive training and knowledge sharing. Over the course of 8 days, participants engaged in a comprehensive program that combined practical sessions with valuable theoretical lessons on essential topics like shooting technique, nutrition, and anti-doping education.
The camp provided an excellent opportunity for both athletes and coaches to enhance their skills and knowledge. One of the most impactful moments was a presentation by former World Cup athlete Thomas Bormolini, who shared an emotional and insightful reflection on his career, discussing the challenges and triumphs he faced throughout his journey."
*BNZ and it's coaches reserve the right to judge if an applicant has the required level of competence to join this camp. If you are not at this level this year, then there will be more oppuntunities in years to come
